Frequently Asked Questions

How many computers can I connect?
A home network can consist of two or more computers - the number is entirely up to you.

Will my wireless network work with my provider?
Our home network solutions are compatible with all dialup, cable and ADSL Internet carrier connections.

Can you install the network cables in an existing house?
Definitely - most networks are installed in existing houses or apartments. A degree of skill is required to install a network effectively in an existing house without damaging any areas of the building. Draping wires around the outside is not an option!

All of our installers carry an Australian Communications Authority licence - this licence is required for all voice and data cabling installations in Australia and all installations are fully guaranteed for 3 years.

Can I install the network myself?
Yes. We offer starter kits to allow setting up of a basic network as well as all of the tools and materials that you will require to complete the job.

How secure will my wireless network be?
Wireless networks can be installed very quickly but it not very often do we see a network that has been installed correctly. Running an unprotected wireless network is like putting a private phone on your front fence for public use!

Wireless networks can be made just as secure as a wired network when installed properly.

How far will my wireless network work?
Performance of a wireless network varies significantly depending on the environment it is operating in. Claims made by manufacturers for distance of operation are based on ideal conditions that rarely exist in the 'real' world.

A wireless audit is recommended to be conducted prior to any installation to ascertain acceptable performance levels throughout your particular home.

We offer this service free of charge.

Can I control when the kids use the Internet?
A home network can give you control over when the kids can use their wireless laptops on the Internet by cutting off their connection at a fixed time that you control, eg: off at 9:00pm at night and back on at 8:00am in the morning.

What does it cost?
The construction of homes varies widely as does the requirements of each household.

We offer a free service to inspect your house to test the performance of a wireless system and to assess the cost of installing a partial or full wired or wireless network system in your home.
